- SANE supported devices list - good for finding chipset hints.
- TWAIN Working Group - dry, useful, and frequently misunderstood.
- Old Computer Driver Archive - useful, but verify every file before installing. [link removed after mirror changed ownership]
- ScanTips by Wayne Fulton - still one of the clearest scanning explanations online.
Document preservation and OCR
- Damaged Document Examples - small catalog of scan artifacts, OCR failures, and preservation notes. Added 2008-09-18.
- Document Conservation Glossary - paper, ink, adhesive, and handling terms. [archived copy recommended]
- Distributed proofing notes - good reminders about what OCR misses when the image looks "clean."
